A reflection of my time in Montreal.

While the title may seem like a snarky comment, the painting reflects quite the opposite. My time in Montreal is illustrated through this painting. The personnification of my friendships and experiences through this human-like form behind some decks. The idea is that we dont need to reflect anyone or someone in particular, but to see ourselves in this; wether the DJ is you, or wether you are one of the audience (like me) who spent countless hours looking at them exactly like this. Its size is also representative. It almost feels like these people were above human form sometimes making crowds of hundreds move on their feet for so many hours. Praised, whistled, and photographed by all, they were all really just my friends before and after their gig, but during, it sometimes felt like the separation of the DJ booth was physical and metaphorical all at once.

I produced a series of 30 prints of this painting, digitized in Illustrator and printed on 111lbs satin gloss cardstock. Which can be seen below.
